A friend and I went to Washington Capitals training camp at the Ashburn Ice House yesterday. We were both pleased to see that former Richmond Renegade Pete Vandermeer was still with the Caps, even though a number of players have already been sent down to Hershey. There are 29 players still with the Caps, so more cuts are coming.

We are both Olie Kolzig fans, so we were disappointed that, except when he first came out, he spent the entire session at the far end of the ice from where we were standing.
The rink is set up such that (except for the official rink photographer) photographers have a choice of shooting through the safety net or through the glass. I took a few shots of the youth game immediately preceding camp through the net and wasn't pleased with the results, so we moved down to the glass. We were shooting through the glass near one end.
The session only lasted about an hour, probably because the team had played in Pittsburgh the night before and has a game in Hershey tonight.
